to discover

Do you know the Vercors? The Maison Brun hotel is located at the foot of this picturesque massif, in a preserved natural environment. From the village of Saint-Lattier where our hotel is located, explore a region full of charm, between historical heritage and green scenery.

Discover the hanging houses of Pont-en-Royan, the abbey of Saint-Antoine, the gorges of the Bourne, the caves of Thiais and Choranche or the unmissable Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval in Hauterives... When it comes to shopping, it's impossible to miss the Marques Avenue in Romans-sur-Isère

The Palais du Facteur Cheval

One day in April 1879, while on his rounds, the postman Ferdinand Cheval came across a strange stone: this was the beginning of his dream, to build a palace with his own hands, inspired by nature and the postcards he distributed from around the world. It will take him 33 years to complete this project.

Visit this unusual palace, nestled in a lush garden, and then discover the museum, which will shed light on the history of the postman and his inspirations.
Temporary exhibitions are also organised.

Pont-en-Royans

Dive into the Middle Ages... At the entrance to the Bourne Gorges, the village of Pont-en-Royans reveals its cobbled streets and terraced gardens. Nestled between the Vercors and the banks of the Bourne, this village is particularly famous for its hanging houses. Built in the 16th century, their narrow architecture made them a strategic place for trade.

You can also take advantage of your visit to Pont-en-Royans to discover the belvedere of the Three Castles and to have a picnic on the banks of the Bourne.
Pont-en-Royans is about 20 minutes' drive from the Hotel Brun.

Romans-sur-Isère

This ancient medieval city is a real must-see during your stay. Romans-sur-Isère, in the Drôme, offers a rich architectural heritage, between Romanesque and Gothic styles, medieval houses and Renaissance town houses.
Among the main points of interest, we recommend the International Shoe Museum and Marque Avenue for a shopping spree at reduced prices.

Finally, don't miss the famous ravioles of Romans and the delicious orange blossom flavoured pogne.

Where to walk?

Looking for peace and quiet? Nature lovers will be delighted by this greening. The Vercors regional nature park offers superb landscapes and numerous possibilities for hiking and cycling.

In summer, you can swim, row, kayak or fish.
Let us suggest some ideas for walks around our hotel...

The slow forest

Discover the beautiful scenery of the Lente State Forest, about 45 minutes' drive from the Hotel Brun. With more than 3,000 hectares and numerous marked trails, it is the ideal place to go for a walk and observe the flora and fauna. There is also a botanical trail for families.

Finally, in the heart of this forest of beech and sycamore trees, there is also a wildlife park with bison, mouflons, fallow deer and stags.

The Battle Pass

The Col de la Bataille is one of the most emblematic hikes in the Vercors. Along the way, admire the magnificent landscapes between cliffs, meadows and forests. This pass, which is popular with cyclists, reaches an altitude of 1,313 metres.

By bike, the departure is from Léoncel, about 35 minutes from the Hôtel Brun. The circuit is 8.30 km long with a difference in altitude of 400 metres and links up with the village of Vassieux-en-Vercors.

The gorges of the Bourne

In the heart of the Vercors Regional Natural Park, discover the natural site of the Bourne gorges, a preserved place that offers magnificent landscapes.

Carved into the cliffs, the route of the Bourne gorges is an imposing itinerary which begins with the medieval village of Pont-en-Royans and its suspended houses and offers impressive views, notably of the Bournillon cirque.

Take advantage of your walk to stop at the Choranche cave, which houses an emerald lake and two underground rivers.
